Telecom towers

Telecom towers are used for both telecommunication and broadcasting, though satellites are increasingly used for transmission of TV signals.

Tower analysis reports detail the overall performance of the tower and its individual components and of the foundation system. They include a tower drawing which details tower elevation, member sizes, an appurtenance list, coax routing, a plot plan and guy tensions.

The structural analyses are performed using ERI Tower (C-Concepts, Inc.), a sophisticated software program that is well recognized in the tower industry. The program allows users to build finite element models of guyed and self-supporting towers and monopoles. The user inputs tower geometry and appurtenance and coax information and the program calculates and applies wind and ice loads in the model. Program output includes stresses in all the tower members and guy wires, tower deflections and foundation loads.
